Google Workspace Partner in Ernakulam

Tech Geum licenses, deploys, migrates and supports Google Workspace for businesses across Ernakulam and Kochi — invoiced in rupees with GST, supported in your own working hours.

Ernakulam is the one district in Kerala where the buying reasons genuinely differ street by street. An IT firm at Kakkanad is usually answering a client's security questionnaire. A freight forwarder near Willingdon Island needs a shipment file that survives a staff change. An exporter needs a buyer in Rotterdam to be unable to receive a forged payment instruction on their domain.

The district

Six economies sharing one district

Ernakulam is Kerala's commercial centre, and that shows up as unusual variety rather than unusual size. These six groups have almost nothing in common operationally, and each of them wants something different from the same product.

code

Infopark, SmartCity and CSEZ, Kakkanad

IT services firms, product companies and back-office operations for overseas parents. Almost all of them answer to a client or a group head office on how their data is handled, which is a different buying reason from everyone else in this district.

anchor

Willingdon Island, Cochin Port and Vallarpadam

Freight forwarders, customs brokers, shipping lines and container handling. Email is not a communication tool here — it is where the shipment record lives, which changes what a mailbox has to survive.

set_meal

The export trade

Seafood, spices and marine products moving through Kochi to buyers who are never in the same country. Every quotation, contract and payment instruction travels by email, which makes the domain itself worth attacking.

storefront

Edappally, Vyttila, MG Road and Marine Drive

Multi-branch retail, showrooms and dealerships. The recurring pattern is branch managers running the business from personal accounts nobody at head office can see into.

account_balance

Professional services

Chartered accountants, company secretaries, law firms and consultancies working with client documents all day. What they need from Drive is client separation and a retention answer, not storage.

factory

Kalamassery, Aluva and Angamaly

Manufacturing, industrial supply and the belt out towards the airport at Nedumbassery. Often the oldest mail setups in the district, and the ones still running on a server somebody built.

In practice

Six situations we are actually called about here

Not a feature list. These are the specific problems that make an Ernakulam business pick up the phone, and what solving each one looks like.

inventory_2

The shipment file that lives in one person's inbox

A freight forwarder near Willingdon Island runs each consignment out of an inbox — bill of lading, invoice, packing list, inspection certificate, all as attachments on a thread. When a dispute surfaces four months later, the file is reconstructed by searching one person's mail, and if that person has left, it is not reconstructed at all.

check_circle

What fixes it: Shared Drives per consignment or per client, delegated access to ops@ and docs@ instead of a shared password, and a retention policy that means the thread still exists when it is needed.

mail_lock

The buyer who paid the wrong account

An exporter's overseas customer receives revised bank details on what looks like the exporter's own domain, and pays. Nobody at the Kochi end sees anything wrong until the buyer asks why the goods have not shipped. This is not a technical curiosity in export trade — it is the specific reason email authentication matters here more than in most sectors.

check_circle

What fixes it: SPF, DKIM and DMARC published and moved to enforcement, so a spoofed message claiming to come from your domain is rejected rather than delivered.

fact_check

The security questionnaire that stalls the deal

An IT firm at Infopark or SmartCity reaches the procurement stage with a larger client and is sent a security questionnaire. It asks whether multi-factor authentication is enforced, whether admin access is separated, how leavers are offboarded and whether access can be evidenced. The team has been running on personal Gmail or an unconfigured tenant and cannot answer any of it.

check_circle

What fixes it: A tenant with 2-Step Verification enforced, admin roles separated, a documented offboarding process and audit logs — which turns the questionnaire from a blocker into a form-filling exercise.

storefront

The branch that is invisible to head office

A retail group with outlets across Edappally, Vyttila and Kakkanad finds each branch manager using a personal Gmail address for supplier and customer correspondence. When a manager moves on, the supplier relationships, price agreements and pending orders go with them, and head office discovers this after the fact.

check_circle

What fixes it: Domain accounts for every branch, shared calendars and Shared Drives owned by the company, and an offboarding runbook so a departure is a process rather than an emergency.

folder_shared

Client documents scattered across personal Drives

A chartered accountancy practice exchanges statements, returns and working papers with clients by attachment, and the working copies sit in whichever staff member's personal Drive they were created in. External sharing is wide open because nobody ever changed it, and there is no clean answer to which clients a departing associate could still reach.

check_circle

What fixes it: A Shared Drive per client with access by group rather than by individual, external sharing restricted deliberately, and retention set to whatever the practice actually has to keep.

swap_horiz

The hosting mailbox that ran out of room

A trading or manufacturing firm around Kalamassery or Angamaly is on a mailbox bundled with its website hosting, with a quota measured in hundreds of megabytes. Staff have been deleting mail to keep working, or archiving it to a file on one desktop. Years of correspondence are already gone, and nobody decided that.

check_circle

What fixes it: A migration that brings across what still exists, a storage allowance sized against the real footprint, and an end to deletion as a filing strategy.

Export trade

Why domain authentication matters more in Kochi than most places

In a business that sells locally, a forged email is an annoyance. In one that ships seafood or spices to a buyer several time zones away, email is the only channel carrying contracts, invoices and payment instructions — and the buyer has no easy way to verify anything by other means. That asymmetry is what makes an exporter's domain worth forging.

key

The mechanism

A message is sent to your buyer with your company's address in the From field, often quoting a real order, asking for payment to different bank details. Nothing is compromised at your end. Nothing appears in your sent mail. You find out when the buyer asks why the goods have not shipped.

policy

What actually prevents it

SPF, DKIM and DMARC. Published correctly and moved to enforcement, they tell the receiving mail system to reject a message claiming to be from your domain that did not come from your mail servers. It is not a filter or a subscription — it is three DNS records and the discipline to take them past monitoring.

warning

What it does not prevent

A lookalike domain — one character different, or a different extension. Authentication cannot help there, because the forger owns that domain legitimately. What helps is that your buyers know to check, and that payment detail changes are confirmed by a second channel. We cover both in the handover.

This is configured as part of the build rather than offered as an extra. More on how it is handled during a move on our Google Workspace migration page.

Infopark, SmartCity and CSEZ

The questionnaire that decides whether you win the account

IT services firms in Ernakulam hit this at the procurement stage rather than the pitch. The questions are consistent, they are not difficult to satisfy, and a team running on personal accounts or an unconfigured tenant cannot answer a single one of them honestly.

help

Is multi-factor authentication enforced for all users?

check_circle

2-Step Verification enforced at the organisational unit level, with a realistic enrolment window rather than an overnight lockout.

help

Is administrative access separated and limited?

check_circle

Admin roles split so routine tasks do not need super-admin, with more than one person holding recovery access.

help

How is access removed when someone leaves?

check_circle

A written offboarding sequence — what is suspended, what is transferred, what is archived — rather than whatever the available person remembers.

help

Can you evidence who accessed what?

check_circle

Admin and login audit logs are available in the console, provided the tenant was configured to keep the roles and units that make them meaningful.

help

How is data shared outside the organisation?

check_circle

External sharing set deliberately — open, restricted to allowlisted domains, or off — instead of left at whatever the default was.

help

Are devices managed?

check_circle

Endpoint rules matched to your edition, and a written position on whether personal phones may reach company mail.

None of this is exotic, and none of it comes switched on. It is configuration work somebody has to do once — which is most of what implementation actually is.

Starting point

What Ernakulam businesses are moving from

The destination is the same in every case. What sets the scope, the timeline and the price is what you are leaving — and in this district that varies more than anywhere else in Kerala.

Moving fromTypicallyWhat the work actually is
cPanel or shared-hosting webmailTraders, exporters, manufacturers and older firms across the districtUsually bundled with the website by a local hosting reseller. Small quotas, no meaningful spam filtering, and almost never SPF, DKIM or DMARC. Data moves easily over IMAP; the work is in the undocumented aliases and forwards.
Personal @gmail.com accountsStartups, branch retail, small professional practicesThe business runs on accounts owned by individuals. The migration is straightforward; deciding which files belong to the company and which to the person is the part that takes time — and it must happen before somebody resigns, not after.
Microsoft 365IT services firms, and anyone whose overseas client mandated itMail, contacts and calendars move predictably. The real work is shared mailboxes, distribution lists and public folders, which have no direct Google equivalent and get redesigned rather than copied.
An on-premise serverLong-established manufacturers and trading housesFrequently several versions behind, with mailbox sizes larger than anyone expects. Needs a coexistence period rather than a single switch, so it is scoped individually.
Another Google tenantFirms that bought direct and never configured itNothing to migrate, but often a genuine rebuild: everyone in one organisational unit, sharing wide open, super-admin on a personal account and DKIM never published.
How we work

Working with Ernakulam businesses

Tech Geum operates from Angadippuram in Malappuram district. We do not have an office in Ernakulam, and for this work it does not matter — domain verification, DNS and MX changes, tenant configuration, migration and admin handover are all done remotely wherever anyone sits.

What being in Kerala does change is the ordinary things. Reaching someone during your own working day rather than overnight. Speaking Malayalam if that is easier. Dealing with a person who already knows how your domain and user structure are set up, instead of explaining the background again to whoever picks up a ticket.

schedule

Cutovers around your trading

A freight forwarder's quiet window is not a retailer's. The MX switch is scheduled around how your business actually runs, not around ours.

receipt_long

INR invoicing against your GSTIN

Licences at Google's India list price, billed in rupees with GST your accounts team can book — not a USD charge on somebody's card.

Google Workspace in Ernakulam — common questions

help

Do you have an office in Ernakulam?

expand_more

No. Tech Geum works from Angadippuram in Malappuram district, and we work with businesses across Ernakulam remotely. That is not a limitation for this kind of work — domain verification, DNS and MX changes, tenant configuration, migration and admin handover are all done remotely regardless of where anyone sits. What being in Kerala does give you is someone reachable during your own working day, in Malayalam if that is easier, who already knows how your setup is configured.

help

Is Ernakulam the same as Kochi or Cochin?

expand_more

For most practical purposes, yes. Ernakulam is the district; Kochi, spelled Cochin in older usage, is the main city within it. People use the names interchangeably in business, and Ernakulam also covers Kakkanad, Kalamassery, Aluva, Angamaly, Edappally, Vyttila, Thrippunithura and Palarivattom. We work across the whole district, not just the city.

help

We are an IT firm at Infopark. What do you actually add over buying direct from Google?

expand_more

Mostly the things a client security questionnaire asks about. Buying direct gives you licences and an unconfigured tenant; enforced 2-Step Verification, separated admin roles, a documented offboarding process and deliberate sharing controls are work somebody has to do. You also get invoiced in INR against your GSTIN rather than on an international card, which your finance team will prefer. If you already have an internal admin who has configured all of that, you genuinely may not need us.

help

We are an exporter. Can you stop people spoofing our domain?

expand_more

Largely, yes, and it matters more in export trade than almost anywhere else, because payment instructions travel by email to buyers who cannot easily verify them by other means. The mechanism is SPF, DKIM and DMARC: published correctly and moved to enforcement, a message forged to look like it came from your domain is rejected by the receiving mail system rather than landing in your buyer's inbox. It does not stop a lookalike domain, so we also cover what to watch for there.

help

Can you migrate us without interrupting shipments?

expand_more

Yes, and for freight and export businesses this is usually the first question. Your existing mail keeps running while data is copied across, so nothing depends on a single switchover moment. The MX change is scheduled for a genuinely quiet window, with forwarding kept in place so nothing bounces during propagation, and a final catch-up sync afterwards. Nothing is switched off until you have confirmed the data is all there.

help

Our branch managers use personal Gmail. Is that a problem?

expand_more

It is the most common one we are called about in retail across the district. The business risk is not the software — it is that the supplier and customer relationships live in an account the company does not own, so they leave when the person does. Moving to domain accounts is quick; the part worth doing properly is deciding what happens to an account when somebody moves on, which most groups have never written down.

help

How is this priced?

expand_more

Licences are at Google's India list price, invoiced in INR with GST against your GSTIN. Setup and migration are quoted as separate, explicit lines based on user count and what you are moving from, so you can see what each part costs rather than finding it folded into a rate. The requirement call and the quote are free.
