Google Workspace Pricing in India
Google Workspace is licensed per user per month. In India the published list prices run from ₹99 for the Base tier to ₹1,080 for Standard, with Enterprise quoted on request — all before 18% GST.
That is the easy half of the answer. What a deployment actually costs depends on how many licences you genuinely need, which edition your storage and compliance position requires, whether you commit for a year, and what it takes to move off what you are using today. This page covers all of it.

What each Google Workspace plan costs
Every tier includes Gmail on your domain, Drive, Calendar, Meet, Chat and the Docs suite. What separates them is storage, the user ceiling, and how much administrative and security control you get.
| Plan | Per user / month | Storage | User limit | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Base | ₹99 | 20 GB pooled per user | Up to 20 users | Very small teams that need domain email and little else. An India-specific entry tier — it is not offered in most markets. |
| Starter | ₹270 | 30 GB pooled per user | Up to 300 users | Teams whose main requirement is professional email on their own domain, with light file storage. |
| Standard | ₹1,080 | 2 TB pooled per user | Up to 300 users | The common choice once Drive is genuinely used. The storage jump from Starter is the reason most businesses land here. |
| Enterprise | On request | 5 TB pooled per user, extendable | No user limit | Advanced security controls, or organisations past the 300-user ceiling on the tiers above. |
These are Google's published India list prices, read from Google's own price list in September 2026, and they exclude GST. Google revises prices, promotional rates and storage allowances without notice, and runs introductory discounts on some tiers that carry their own conditions and user limits. Treat the table as indicative — we confirm the current rate for your chosen edition and commitment term before quoting.
What the licence price covers — and what it does not
A Google Workspace licence buys the software. It does not buy the work of making the software fit your organisation. That distinction is where most budget surprises come from.
In the licence price
- check_circleGmail on your own domain, with aliases and group addresses
- check_circleGoogle Drive storage, plus Shared Drives owned by the organisation
- check_circleDocs, Sheets, Slides, Forms and Sites
- check_circleGoogle Meet and Google Chat
- check_circleThe Admin console — users, groups, policy and device control
- check_circleGemini AI assistance, now bundled into the editions rather than sold separately
Not in the licence price
- helpSetup, DNS and MX configuration — self-serve if you buy direct
- helpMigration of existing mail, contacts, calendars and files
- helpSPF, DKIM and DMARC configuration to protect your domain
- helpUser training and adoption work
- helpOngoing administration — provisioning, offboarding, licence housekeeping
- helpNamed local support, as opposed to a global ticket queue
When you buy through Tech Geum the items on the right are quoted as explicit scope rather than left for you to absorb. You see what each part costs.
Annual commitment or flexible billing?
The same edition has two prices depending on whether you commit. Google states that a one-year commitment saves 16% against flexible month-to-month billing — but the cheaper rate is only cheaper if your headcount actually holds.
Annual commitment
- How it bills
- Committed for twelve months; usually billed monthly or yearly.
- Cost
- Lower per-user rate — Google states a 16% saving against flexible billing.
- Changing user count
- You can add users mid-term, but the committed count does not fall until renewal.
- Suits
- Stable headcount, and organisations that plan licences a year at a time.
Flexible plan
- How it bills
- Month to month, no commitment.
- Cost
- Higher per-user rate.
- Changing user count
- Users can be added or removed in any month; you pay only for what is active.
- Suits
- Seasonal teams, projects with an end date, or a headcount you genuinely cannot forecast.
A practical middle path: commit annually for the core team you are confident about, and keep seasonal or uncertain roles on flexible licences. Mixing the two is allowed and is often the cheaper arrangement over a full year.
Why you will see two different sets of plan names
This confuses almost everyone who compares quotes, so it is worth stating plainly. Google currently uses two naming conventions for the same family of editions, and both are Google's own.
On the India sales price list
Base · Starter · Standard · Enterprise
In Google's admin documentation and the Admin console
Business Starter · Business Standard · Business Plus · Enterprise
Two things follow from that. First, a quote mentioning “Business Standard” and one mentioning “Standard” are talking about the same tier, so compare storage and features rather than names. Second, Business Plus — the tier that adds Vault retention and enhanced endpoint management — does not appear on the India self-serve price list at all. If your requirement points there, it is a quoted conversation rather than something you can check out online.
The Base tier cuts the other way: it is an India-specific entry plan, capped at 20 users, that most international comparison articles do not mention because it is not sold in their market.
GST, input tax credit, and why the invoice matters
GST applies to Google Workspace at 18%. For a GST-registered business that is usually not a real cost — provided the invoice is raised against your GSTIN, the tax is normally recoverable as input tax credit. The difference between a proper tax invoice and a card receipt in USD is therefore worth more than it first appears.

Buying direct from Google versus through a partner
For a two-person team, Google's self-serve checkout is genuinely the right answer and we will tell you so. The comparison below starts to matter once you have an accounts department, staff turnover, or data you cannot afford to lose in a migration.
| Direct from Google | Through Tech Geum | |
|---|---|---|
| Currency and payment | Charged in USD or INR to an international card, depending on the checkout you land on. | Invoiced in INR by an Indian entity, payable by transfer. |
| Tax documentation | A card receipt, which your accounts team may not be able to treat as a GST input. | A tax invoice raised against your GSTIN, bookable in the normal way. |
| Setup and migration | Not included. You receive an empty tenant and configure it yourself. | Quoted as part of the engagement, with a planned cutover. |
| Support | Google's support queue, with no knowledge of your specific configuration. | A named contact who already knows how your domain and users are set up. |
| Licence management | Yours to manage in the Admin console. | Handled — additions, removals, edition moves and right-sizing at renewal. |
| Licence cost itself | Google's list price. | Not a surcharge on Google's pricing. What changes is the invoice and what comes with it. |

What actually drives your Google Workspace bill
The list price is one input out of six. Two businesses with identical headcount routinely end up with quotes that differ by a factor of four, and it is almost never the licence rate that explains the gap.
How many users you licence
Licences are per person, not per device or per mailbox. Shared addresses like sales@ or accounts@ are usually group addresses or aliases, which do not need their own licence — a point that alone can change a quote by several seats.
How much storage you genuinely use
This decides edition far more often than headcount does. The gap between Starter and Standard is mostly storage, and a design firm with 40 GB of artwork per person has a different answer to a consultancy that works in documents.
Annual commitment or flexible
The same edition costs more month to month than on a twelve-month commitment. For a stable team the annual rate is usually right; for a seasonal one the flexibility is worth the premium.
What you are migrating from
Moving twelve mailboxes off cPanel is not the same job as moving 200 users and fifteen years of shared folders off Microsoft 365. Migration is scoped on volume, source platform and how much has to be preserved.
Your compliance position
Retention, eDiscovery, data-loss prevention and context-aware access sit in the higher editions. If a regulator or a client contract requires them, the edition is decided for you.
How much administration you want to keep
Some organisations have an internal admin and want licences only. Others want provisioning, offboarding and policy changes handled month to month. That is a scope decision, and it is priced separately from the licences.

Six ways to cut the cost without losing capability
None of these involve downgrading the people who need the tools. They are the adjustments we make most often when we take over an account that has been running unmanaged for a couple of years.
Reclaim licences when people leave
The single most common source of waste. Licences quietly stay assigned to people who left months ago, and nobody notices until renewal. A quarterly review usually pays for itself.
Mix editions rather than levelling up
You rarely need the whole organisation on the same tier. Put the people who actually store large files on the higher edition and leave the rest on the lower one.
Archive rather than retain a full seat
When a departed employee's mail has to be kept for legal or handover reasons, some editions offer an archived-user licence that preserves the data at lower cost than an active seat. Availability depends on your edition.
Use groups and aliases for shared addresses
info@, sales@ and support@ do not need their own paid licence in most setups. Configured as groups or aliases they route to real people and cost nothing extra.
Right-size at renewal, not at random
Renewal is the point at which a committed licence count can actually come down. Reviewing actual usage a month before renewal is worth more than any mid-term negotiation.
Clear storage before you buy more of it
Old backups, duplicate exports and abandoned shared folders account for a surprising share of a Drive footprint. A clean-up sometimes removes the reason for the upgrade entirely.
The costs that get left out of comparisons
Licence-to-licence comparisons between platforms are easy to run and usually wrong, because the licence is rarely where the money goes. These are the lines that go missing. Several of them come out of the move itself — our Google Workspace migration page sets out what that work involves.
The overlap month
During a migration you are usually paying for both the old system and the new one for a few weeks. It is a real line item and it is almost always left out of a comparison.
Migration effort
Whether you pay someone or absorb it internally, moving mail, calendars and files is work. Doing it without a plan costs more than doing it with one.
Domain and deliverability work
SPF, DKIM and DMARC are not optional if you want your mail to arrive. If nobody has configured them, that work belongs in the budget.
Training and lost productivity
A team that is never shown Shared Drives will keep emailing attachments, and you will have paid for storage nobody uses.
Storage overage
Pooled storage is shared across the organisation. Exceeding it means buying more or clearing space, and it tends to happen without warning.
Ongoing administration
Somebody has to provision new starters, remove leavers and manage groups. If that is not budgeted, it lands on whoever is least busy.
How to pick an edition in four questions
Work down the list. The first question you answer “yes” to sets your floor, and headcount barely enters into it.
Do you have retention, eDiscovery or device-control obligations?
If a regulator, an auditor or a client contract requires you to retain and search mail, or to control which devices reach company data, that decides the edition on its own. You are looking at Business Plus or Enterprise, and the rest of the questions do not apply.
Does anyone need more than about 30 GB of storage?
Designers, video teams, architects and anyone archiving years of project files will pass that line quickly. If a meaningful part of the team will, Standard is the floor — and remember storage is pooled, so a few heavy users draw against everyone's allowance.
Do people collaborate in Drive, or mainly just send email?
If Drive is genuinely how work gets shared, Standard earns its price through storage and meeting recording. If the honest answer is that everyone lives in the inbox, the entry tiers may be sufficient for now.
Are you under 20 users and only need domain email?
Then the India-only Base tier at ₹99 is worth looking at before anything else. It is limited — 20 GB pooled per user and a hard 20-user ceiling — but for a small team that needs professional email and nothing more, it is the cheapest legitimate way in.
If you are still between two tiers, that is a good use of the free requirement call. We would rather put you on the correct edition once than move you twice. If the open question is not which edition but whether Google Workspace is the right product at all, the honest comparisons are against Microsoft 365 and against Zoho Workplace.
Google Workspace pricing — common questions
helpHow much does Google Workspace cost in India?
expand_more
Google's published India list prices are ₹99 per user per month for Base, ₹270 for Starter and ₹1,080 for Standard, with Enterprise quoted on request. All of those exclude GST, which is charged at 18% on top. The figures were checked against Google's India price list in September 2026 and change from time to time, so we confirm the current rate for your edition and term when we quote.
helpIs GST charged on Google Workspace, and can we claim it back?
expand_more
Yes, GST applies at 18% on top of the licence cost. If your business is registered for GST and the invoice is raised against your GSTIN, that tax is normally available as input tax credit under the usual conditions, which makes the effective cost the pre-tax figure. This is the practical reason most Indian businesses buy through an Indian reseller rather than putting the subscription on an international card — a card receipt in USD is much harder for an accounts team to treat that way. We are not tax advisers, so confirm the treatment with yours.
helpDoes buying through a reseller cost more than buying direct from Google?
expand_more
No. Reseller licensing is not a surcharge on Google's pricing. What changes is the invoice and what comes with it: rupees against your GSTIN instead of a card charge, and setup, migration and a named support contact included rather than left to you. The licence line itself is not where a partner adds cost.
helpWhat is the difference between the annual commitment and the flexible plan?
expand_more
The annual commitment locks a user count for twelve months at a lower per-user rate — Google states a 16% saving against flexible billing. The flexible plan is month to month at a higher rate, and lets you add or remove users in any month. Stable teams are usually better off committing; seasonal or project-based teams often are not.
helpWhy do I see Business Starter and Business Plus elsewhere, but Starter and Standard on the India price list?
expand_more
Both namings are Google's. The India sales price list currently shows Base, Starter, Standard and Enterprise, while Google's admin documentation and the Admin console still use the fuller Business Starter, Business Standard and Business Plus names for the underlying editions. They describe the same family of products. Business Plus, which adds Vault retention and enhanced endpoint management, is not shown on the India self-serve price list — we confirm its availability and price for your organisation at quote time.
helpDo shared addresses like info@ or sales@ need their own licence?
expand_more
Usually not. Shared addresses are normally configured as groups or aliases that deliver to real, licensed people, and those do not consume a paid licence. Licences are per person. Getting this wrong is one of the more common reasons a first quote comes back larger than it needs to be.
helpWhich edition should we choose?
expand_more
Decide on storage and compliance rather than headcount. If the requirement is really just email on your own domain, the entry tiers cover it. If people work in Drive seriously, the storage allowance is what will push you to Standard. If you have retention, eDiscovery or device-control obligations, those requirements decide the edition regardless of how many users you have.
helpCan we mix editions across the team?
expand_more
Yes, and it is often the cheaper answer. There is no requirement that everyone sits on the same tier. A common arrangement puts the people who store large files or need compliance features on a higher edition and leaves the rest on a lower one.
helpWhat happens to the cost when someone leaves?
expand_more
On the flexible plan you can remove the licence and stop paying for it in the next cycle. On an annual commitment the committed count holds until renewal, though the seat can be reassigned to a new starter immediately. If the departed person's mail has to be retained, some editions offer an archived-user licence that costs less than an active seat.
helpDo you charge separately for setup and migration?
expand_more
They are quoted as scope alongside the licences, so you see what each part costs rather than finding it folded into a rate. The requirement call and the quote itself are free, and the quote is fixed-scope before any work starts.
