Best Shopify Development Company in Ernakulam

Kochi sells to more countries than the rest of Kerala combined. We build the storefronts, B2B price lists, and export order flows that hold up when a buyer in Rotterdam places the order.

Build Scope

Where Kochi merchants put development budget

Ernakulam has Kerala's most commercially sophisticated merchant base — marine exporters, spice houses, jewellery retail, and a genuine D2C startup scene out of Infopark and Kalamassery. The engineering asks here are heavier than anywhere else in the state.

Export & Consignment Order Flows

Kochi ships more product overseas than any other district in Kerala, and the storefront has to produce documentation-grade data.

Export & B2B

Building a storefront that a customs broker can work from

An export business running its documentation out of email threads and spreadsheets is not blocked by a lack of software — it is blocked by product data that was never structured for the job. This is the part most Shopify builds skip entirely.

description

Documentation-grade product data

HS codes, net and gross weights, packing configuration, and origin declarations stored as structured fields rather than typed fresh into every shipping document.

handshake

Incoterms modelled honestly

FOB, CIF, and DDP are different commercial promises. We present them as distinct options with clear cost and responsibility language, instead of one flat international shipping rate.

receipt_long

Proforma and commercial invoicing

Generated from the order record with the fields your buyer's bank and customs broker expect, so nobody is rebuilding the document by hand at dispatch.

verified_user

Buyer verification gates

New overseas accounts pass through approval before wholesale pricing or credit terms become visible, protecting margin and reducing fraud exposure on high-value consignments.

scale

Volumetric and container logic

Spice and marine consignments price by weight, volume, and container fill. Shipping rules reflect that rather than approximating with a per-order flat rate.

public

Market-specific compliance copy

Labelling claims, certification badges, and permitted health statements differ by destination. Metaobjects let the same product show the right compliance content per market.

Headless, Honestly

When Hydrogen is the right call for a Kochi brand — and when it is an expensive mistake

We build headless storefronts and we turn down headless projects, roughly in equal measure. Here is the test we apply before quoting.

check_circle

Worth the investment when

  • chevron_right

You need front-end interaction Liquid genuinely cannot express, not just a nicer animation

  • chevron_right

One brand runs several regional storefronts that must share a single content layer

  • chevron_right

Your product configurator or visualiser is the core of the buying experience

  • chevron_right

You have in-house engineering capacity to own a JavaScript application long term

remove_circle

We will talk you out of it when

  • chevron_right

The current theme is slow — that is an app and image problem, and headless will not fix it

  • chevron_right

A competitor announced they went headless and it sounded impressive

  • chevron_right

You want more design control, which Online Store 2.0 sections already provide

  • chevron_right

Nobody on your side can maintain a deployed front-end when we finish

The honest version: for most Ernakulam merchants, three weeks spent on app hygiene, image discipline, and Liquid render cost will beat a headless rebuild on every metric that matters — and cost a fraction of it. That is what our performance engagement does.

Delivery

How an Ernakulam engagement is sequenced

Kochi projects usually involve more stakeholders — an export desk, an accounts team, a marketing agency. The sequence below exists so those groups are not discovering each other at launch.

Ernakulam operations and accounts staff being walked through their new Shopify workflows
01

Commercial discovery

Before code, we map how you actually sell — retail, wholesale, export, marketplace — and which of those the store must serve on day one versus later. Kochi businesses usually have more channels than they first mention.

02

Architecture decision record

Liquid or Hydrogen, standard plan or Plus, Functions or app, single catalogue or Markets. Each choice is written down with its reasoning so the decision survives staff changes on both sides.

03

Data model and integration contract

Metafield definitions, taxonomy, and the exact payloads moving between Shopify and your ERP are agreed in writing before either side starts building.

04

Build and parallel validation

Construction happens on a development store. For replatforming projects the old and new systems run in parallel while we reconcile orders and stock between them.

05

Cutover and monitoring

Redirects, DNS, and payment switchover in a scheduled window, with error logs, checkout completion, and Search Console watched actively through the first indexing cycle.

06

Documentation and enablement

Repository access, architecture notes, integration runbooks, and training for whoever owns the store afterwards — your team or another agency.

Development FAQs

What Kochi merchants ask our engineering team

code

We export seafood and spices from Kochi. Can a Shopify store handle export orders properly?

expand_more
It can, provided the export requirements are built rather than bolted on. We capture HS codes and country-of-origin data as product metafields so they flow onto documentation, model Incoterms as selectable shipping options with the cost implications made explicit, and generate proforma invoices from the order record rather than from a separate spreadsheet. Buyer verification steps and minimum consignment rules are enforced at checkout. What Shopify will not do is replace your customs broker — the store produces clean, consistent data for them to work from.
code

Our brand does serious volume. Is a standard Liquid theme going to hold up, or do we need headless?

expand_more
Most Kochi brands asking this do not need headless yet, and we will tell you so. Online Store 2.0 with disciplined app hygiene handles very high traffic perfectly well. Headless earns its cost when you need a genuinely custom front-end experience, a shared content layer across several storefronts, or app-like interaction that Liquid cannot express. When it is justified we build on Hydrogen and Oxygen, but we go in with clear eyes about the ongoing engineering commitment it creates.
code

Can you build a B2B price list for our Broadway and MG Road wholesale customers?

expand_more
Yes, and there are two routes depending on your plan. On standard Shopify we implement customer-tagged pricing through Shopify Functions with a gated catalogue and login-required collections. On Shopify Plus we use the native B2B features — companies, locations, payment terms, and per-company catalogues — which is cleaner if you already have the plan. We assess which is appropriate rather than pushing an upgrade you do not need.
code

We have an existing Magento store with heavy customisation. How risky is that migration?

expand_more
Magento migrations carry more risk than WooCommerce ones, mainly because the customisation usually encodes business rules nobody has written down. We run a discovery pass to document what the custom modules actually do, then decide for each one whether it becomes a Shopify Function, an app, a metafield structure, or a process that no longer needs software. Data extraction is done directly from the database, and we run the old and new stores in parallel through a validation window before cutting DNS.
code

Do you integrate Shopify with the ERP systems Kochi companies actually run?

expand_more
We build integrations against whatever you have rather than insisting on a particular stack. Zoho Books and Zoho Inventory are the most common in Kerala and we have deep experience there. For Tally we build a middleware sync since there is no modern API to work against. For SAP Business One and other enterprise systems we integrate through their APIs or a flat-file exchange, depending on what your licence exposes. Every integration is built with idempotent webhook handling so a retry does not duplicate an order.
code

Our marketing team wants to change landing pages constantly. Will they need a developer every time?

expand_more
They should not, and if they do the build was done badly. We structure themes so page composition is genuinely available in the theme editor — sections with real settings, reusable blocks, and metaobject-driven content for repeated patterns like ingredient panels or certification badges. Where the team needs more freedom than sections allow, we integrate a page-builder deliberately rather than letting one accumulate by accident.
code

How do you handle a store that serves both Indian retail and overseas wholesale from one catalogue?

expand_more
Through Shopify Markets for the customer-facing side and careful catalogue architecture underneath. Retail and wholesale get separate price lists, separate published catalogues, and separate shipping profiles, while sharing one product record so inventory stays truthful. Currency, tax display, and duty messaging switch by market. The mistake we most often correct is a duplicated catalogue built to serve the second audience — it doubles the maintenance and splits the SEO.
code

What does a technical audit of our current Kochi store involve, and what do we get?

expand_more
About a week of work. We review theme code against the vendor baseline to find fork drift, inventory every installed app and measure its performance cost, check the data model for metafield sprawl and orphaned references, test checkout across UPI, cards, netbanking, and international payment methods, and pull Core Web Vitals field data. You receive a written report with findings ranked by revenue impact against effort, plus the raw measurements. It is a paid engagement and the deliverable is yours whether or not you hire us for the fixes.
