What Is Zoho Zia Chat? Features, Early Access and Pricing

Zoho's new AI interface puts CRM, Desk, Books, Analytics and 40-odd other apps behind one chat box. Here is what it can actually do, which AI models it runs on, and what to expect from early access and pricing.

Zoho Zia Chat is Zoho's answer to a problem every Zoho One customer knows: the information you need sits in five different apps, and getting a straight answer means opening all five. Zia Chat replaces that with a single conversation. Ask which customers are at risk of churning this month, and it pulls the tickets from Desk, the invoices from Books and the deal history from CRM into one answer you can act on.

What is Zoho Zia Chat?

Zoho launched Zia Chat on September 23, 2026, alongside its first set of Zoho industry solutions. Zoho calls it "an AI interface for frictionless work": a chat window where you find information, understand it and act on it, across the apps your team already uses.

It is not a new chatbot bolted onto one product. It sits above the whole suite and works across 45+ apps, including Zoho CRM, Desk, Books, Mail, Projects, People, Analytics, Cliq, Marketing and Inventory. If your business already runs on Zoho One, it is effectively a new front door to everything you have licensed.

Zoho's pitch is time. Its own example is a monthly review of customers likely to churn: pulling that together by hand across support, billing and sales takes 45–60 minutes, and Zoho says Zia Chat does it in under 5 minuteswith Zoho Zia Chat. That is Zoho's figure, not an independent test, but the shape of the saving is believable for anyone who has built that report manually.

What Zia Chat can do

Zoho groups the capabilities into three jobs: understanding business context, reasoning over it, and acting.

Find and summarise

  • Look up a prospect, customer or vendor and summarise everything Zoho knows about them.
  • Retrieve records across apps: open tickets, unpaid invoices, stalled deals, low-stock items.
  • Answer questions about the business in plain language, such as which region's sales dropped last quarter.

Analyse and create

  • Analyse data and produce reports, charts, spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Draft follow-up emails, replies to support tickets and internal updates.
  • Generate and qualify leads from the data you already hold.

Act inside the conversation

  • Create and assign tasks, share a support issue with a colleague, or send a low-stock alert.
  • Schedule a recurring report so the same answer arrives every week.
  • Hand multi-step work to Zia Agents, which can draft responses, update records, escalate tickets or run a whole workflow.

The outputs are interactive. When Zia Chat drafts an email or creates a lead, you get the actual email or lead record to review and send, not a block of text to copy into another app.

Zoho also lists role-specific uses: pipeline risk for sales, escalations for support, campaign analysis for marketing, invoice follow-up for finance, inventory checks for operations and a business-health snapshot for leadership. For a closer look at the AI already built into each app, see our guide to Zoho AI features.

How Zia Chat finds the right data

The hard part of a cross-app assistant is knowing that "Ravi from Kochi Traders" in your question is the same contact as the one in CRM, the ticket in Desk and the customer in Books. Zoho says Zia Chat solves this with semantic search, entity resolvers, a work graph that maps how records relate, and proximity signals such as which records you work with most.

Two things matter more for an admin than the technique. First, it respects the permissions already set in each app: a sales rep who cannot see payroll in Zoho People will not see it through Zia Chat either, with no extra setup. Second, access is controlled centrally by the org admin, so you decide who gets it.

Skills, Profiles and Agents

Zoho also mentions Skills and Profiles for specialised work, alongside Zia Agents for multi-step tasks. Zoho has not yet published full documentation for Skills and Profiles, so treat them as early features until early access opens.

AI models, BYOK and privacy

Zoho Zia Chat is model-agnostic. Rather than locking you into one provider, it lets you pick the large language model behind the chat. At launch there are two routes:

Model options Zoho has announced for Zia Chat.

Zoho says data accessed through Zia Chat is not used to train AI models. The in-house option exists for businesses that want processing to stay within Zoho entirely, which matters for regulated industries. Zoho has been building the hardware for exactly this; our piece on the Zoho Nathu La server explains why it is cutting its own inference costs.

BYOK has a cost implication worth planning for: with your own key, the model provider bills you for tokens on top of whatever Zoho eventually charges for Zia Chat.

Connecting non-Zoho apps through MCP

Most businesses do not run on Zoho alone. Zia Chat can reach outside the suite through MCP (Model Context Protocol), the open standard for connecting AI assistants to business software. If a tool you use offers an MCP server, the chat can query it in the same conversation as your Zoho data.

This is the reverse of the Zoho MCP server Zoho launched earlier in 2026, which lets outside AI tools such as Claude or Cursor act on your Zoho data. If you are building custom connections in either direction, our Zoho developers in Kerala build exactly this kind of integration.

Zia Chat vs Zia Agents vs the Zoho MCP server

Zoho now has three AI pieces with similar names, and they are easy to confuse. They are designed to work together:

Zia AgentsAI workers that run multi-step jobs, built in Agent StudioCalled by Zia Chat, workflows or admins

In practice you talk to Zia Chat, Zia Chat delegates the long jobs to an agent, and the MCP layers connect both to the rest of your software. Our explainer on Zoho Zia Agents, Agent Studio and the MCP server covers the agent side in detail.

Zia Chat pricing and early access

Here is everything Zoho has confirmed about availability and cost so far:

  • Early access: opening about a month after the September 23, 2026 announcement, and free.
  • Language: English only at first, with more languages based on demand.
  • Regions: organisations on Zoho's India and US data centres. Zoho says more regions are planned but has not dated them.
  • Pricing: licensing and Zia Chat pricing will be announced at general availability.
  • Bundles: Zoho plans to include Zia Chat in bundles such as Zoho One.

Check your data centre first

If your Zoho account is hosted outside India and the US (for example on the EU or UAE data centre), you will not get Zia Chat in the first wave. Your admin console shows which data centre your organisation uses.

Until Zoho publishes Zia Chat pricing, budget on the assumption that Zoho One customers get it included and that BYOK token costs are yours. Our Zoho pricing guide covers what the current bundles cost in India.

Should your business sign up for Zia Chat?

Zia Chat pays off most when your data is already spread across several Zoho apps. Sign up early if:

  • You run Zoho One or three or more Zoho apps, and managers spend time assembling cross-app reports.
  • Your Zoho account is on the India or US data centre.
  • Your permissions are already set up properly in each app, because Zia Chat inherits them.

Wait if you only use one Zoho app, or if your CRM and Books data is messy. An AI interface over inconsistent data gives confident answers built on bad records. Cleaning that up first is usually part of a proper Zoho implementation, and it is the step most businesses skip.

Frequently asked questions

What is Zoho Zia Chat?

Zoho Zia Chat is a conversational AI interface that works across more than 45 Zoho apps. You ask a question or give an instruction in plain English, and it finds the records, analyses the data, drafts the output or takes the action, without you opening each app.

Is Zia Chat free?

Early access is free. Zoho has said licensing and pricing will be announced at general availability, and that Zia Chat is planned to be included in bundles such as Zoho One.

When will Zia Chat be available?

Zoho announced Zia Chat on September 23, 2026 and said early access would open in about a month, in English only, for organisations on Zoho's India and US data centres. Other regions and languages come later.

Which AI model does Zia Chat use?

Zia Chat is model-agnostic. You can bring your own API key for a frontier model (OpenAI at launch, with Anthropic and others planned), or use Zoho's in-house model where it is offered, which keeps processing inside Zoho.

What is the difference between Zia Chat and Zia Agents?

Zia Chat is the interface you talk to. Zia Agents are the workers that carry out multi-step jobs, such as drafting replies, updating records or escalating tickets. Zia Chat can hand a task to an agent from inside the conversation.
