Part of our series on Zoho's September 2026 launches. Start with what Zoho Zia Chat is or the overview of all seven Zoho industry solutions.
Zoho MedScribe is an AI medical scribe built for Indian healthcare. It is part of Zoho for Healthcare, one of the seven Zoho industry solutions launched in September 2026, and it tackles the job doctors like least: writing up the consultation.
What is Zoho MedScribe?
Zoho calls it an "AI-native, ABDM-compliant clinical documentation solution". In plain terms, it is an AI scribe. It listens to the conversation between doctor and patient and produces the clinical note and prescription, structured and ready for the patient record.
| Feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Conversation to record | Turns the consultation into structured clinical notes and prescriptions in real time |
| Patient context | Shows history, past prescriptions and reports during the consultation |
| Contextual queries | Lets the doctor ask questions about the patient's record |
| Specialty templates | Keeps documentation consistent across a practice and per specialty |
| Voice-to-text, multilingual | Works from speech, in more than one language |
| Review and approve | The doctor checks and signs off every record before it is final |
| Standards | ABDM-compliant and FHIR-enabled |
How Zoho MedScribe works in a consultation
- The doctor opens the patient and sees their history, earlier prescriptions and reports.
- The consultation happens normally while it is captured by voice.
- A draft note appears in the practice's template for that specialty: complaints, findings, diagnosis, plan, and the prescription.
- The doctor reviews, edits if needed and approves. Only then does it become part of the record.
Why the approval step matters
AI scribes can mishear drug names and doses. The mandatory review keeps the doctor responsible for the record, which is how clinical documentation has to work. Expect to edit drafts closely in the first few weeks while you learn where MedScribe needs help. What ABDM compliance means for MedScribe
ABDM, the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, is India's national framework for digital health records. It defines how patients are identified (the ABHA health ID), how records are structured, and how they are shared with consent between hospitals, labs and clinics.
For a clinic, ABDM-compliant software means the records it produces are in a form that can participate in that national system, rather than sitting as free text in one clinic's database. FHIR support does the same job internationally: it is the standard format most modern health systems use to exchange data.
Zoho has not published the detail of which ABDM integrations it supports (for example, linking records to ABHA IDs), so confirm the specific flows you need during early access.
MedScribe inside Zoho for Healthcare
MedScribe is one part of Zoho for Healthcare, which also covers patient records, appointments, billing and patient engagement. Zoho designed it to work alongside an existing EHR, EMR or hospital information system, not to replace it.
For many clinics the front office matters as much as the consultation room: enquiries, appointment reminders, follow-ups and branch-wise billing. That part usually runs on Zoho CRM and Zoho Books. Our guide to Zoho for healthcare clinics walks through that setup for a multi-doctor clinic.
When Zoho Zia Chatrolls out, the admin team should be able to ask for things like this week's missed follow-ups across all branches without building a report.
Which clinics should try Zoho MedScribe
- High-volume OPDs where doctors see 40+ patients a day and documentation is falling behind.
- Multi-doctor clinics and hospital groups that want consistent notes across doctors and branches.
- Practices preparing for ABDM and wanting structured records without retyping.
- Specialty clinics (for example dermatology, paediatrics, orthopaedics) where templated notes fit well.
It is a weaker fit for practices where consultations mix several languages heavily, at least until Zoho confirms which languages it supports.
How to get Zoho MedScribe early access
MedScribe is in limited early access for clinicians and healthcare teams in India. You apply on Zoho's MedScribe early access page (linked in the sources below). Zoho has not published pricing.
If you run a hospital or clinic group in Kerala, the bigger project is usually connecting appointments, billing and follow-ups across branches, with MedScribe added on top. That is a Zoho implementation project we handle as a Zoho partner in Kerala. Education groups that also run colleges can read about Zoho Campus, launched the same day.
