Zoho for Retail: RetailIQ CRM, POS and Inventory in One Stack

Retailers have been using Zoho for billing and stock for years. What was missing was a CRM that understands shoppers instead of sales pipelines. RetailIQ fills that gap. Here is how Zoho for Retail fits together.

Zoho for Retail is one of the seven Zoho industry solutions launched in September 2026. For retailers, the important part is not the POS or the stock control, which Zoho already had. It is Zoho RetailIQ, a new retail CRM that turns one-time buyers into repeat customers.

What is Zoho for Retail?

Zoho for Retail is a bundle of Zoho apps shaped for retail, plus one new product:

The pieces of Zoho for Retail.
LayerWhat it covers

The pieces of Zoho for Retail.

If you already run Zoho POS and Zoho Inventory, most of Zoho for Retail is familiar. RetailIQ is the piece to watch.

Zoho RetailIQ: a CRM built for shops

A standard Zoho CRMsetup is built around a sales pipeline: lead, qualified, proposal, won. Retail does not work like that. A shopper walks in, buys, and either comes back or doesn't. RetailIQ is built around that loop.

Customer 360

RetailIQ builds one profile per shopper from POS purchases, website visits, in-store interactions, surveys, ratings and social media. Zoho also lists offline purchases and footfall data as sources.

Loyalty programmes

You can design tiered rewards and behaviour-based incentives. Points, tiers and notifications are tied to billing, so a shopper earns points at the counter without staff doing anything extra.

Targeted campaigns

Segment shoppers by what and how often they buy, then send offers to each segment. RetailIQ supports event-based messages such as birthday wishes, anniversary rewards and feedback surveys, and campaigns to win back customers who have stopped visiting.

WhatsApp, SMS and RCS campaigns

RetailIQ sends campaigns over WhatsApp, SMS, RCS, email and Instagram. For Indian retail, WhatsApp is the one that matters: a thank-you message with an e-receipt and a loyalty sign-up on the day of the first purchase is the kind of flow Zoho describes.

RCS is worth a look

RCS (Rich Communication Services) is the upgraded SMS that shows images, buttons and branding in the phone's default messaging app. It reaches Android users who do not open WhatsApp business messages, and is one of the less common channels in retail CRMs.

Which retailers Zoho RetailIQ is built for

Zoho lists eight retail segments for RetailIQ:

  • Fashion and apparel
  • Food and beverage
  • Sporting goods and outdoors
  • Beauty and cosmetics
  • Electronics and appliances
  • Home and furniture
  • Luxury and jewellery
  • Toys and games

The common thread is repeat purchase. Jewellery and apparel stores, where a customer returns for weddings and festivals, get the most out of a loyalty CRM. A pure wholesale trader has different problems; our piece on retail vs trading workflows explains the difference.

A festival-season example

Take a textile showroom in Kerala with three branches. Before Onam, the owner wants to:

  1. Find every customer who bought during last year's Onam and wedding season but not since.
  2. Send them a WhatsApp offer with early access to the new collection.
  3. Give gold-tier loyalty members an extra discount.
  4. See, branch by branch, how many came back and what they spent.

Without a retail CRM, that is a week of exporting billing data and messaging customers by hand. With RetailIQ connected to the POS, it is one segment and one campaign. Once Zoho Zia Chat is live, the owner should be able to simply ask how the Onam campaign performed.

How to set up Zoho for Retail

The order matters, because RetailIQ is only as good as the billing data it reads. We usually set it up this way:

  1. Billing first. Get every counter on one POS with clean item codes. Food businesses should read about Zoho POS for restaurants, which has a free tier.
  2. Stock and accounts. Connect inventory and Zoho Books so sales, purchases and GST all reconcile.
  3. Capture phone numbers at billing. No phone number means no WhatsApp campaign. This is a staff habit as much as a software setting.
  4. Then RetailIQ. Join the waitlist, import customer history and start with one loyalty programme and one win-back campaign.

For retailers using several Zoho apps, Zoho One usually works out cheaper than licensing each app on its own. If you run stores in Kerala and want help with the setup, we work with retail chains as a Zoho partner in Kerala.
