Zoho POS
A billing counter is fast only when the items, barcodes, prices and offers behind it were set up properly.
Zoho POS is Zoho's point-of-sale app for retail shops, with billing apps for Windows, macOS, Android and iOS that keep working offline. It handles barcode billing, returns and exchanges, price lists, offers and loyalty, tracks stock per outlet, and syncs sales, items and payments to Zoho Books. We set up your items and barcodes, outlets and registers, tax and offers, and connect it to accounting and, where you need a central godown, Zoho Inventory. Running a restaurant? See Zoho POS for restaurants, a separate edition with its own plans.

The parts of Zoho POS we configure for retail
Zoho POS is priced per location. The plan is usually decided by how many counters each shop has and whether you need offers, loyalty or batch tracking.
Billing and registers
Billing apps on counters, tablets and phones, with barcode scanners, receipt printers and cash drawers. Offline billing keeps the counter running when the internet drops and syncs once it is back. Unlimited transactions start at Standard.
Items, variants and barcodes
Items with size and colour variants, HSN and tax rates, price lists for wholesale and retail customers, and barcode generation for goods that arrive without one. Serial and batch tracking start at Standard.
Outlets and stock
Each shop runs as a location with its own registers and stock, with transfers between them. Sales, returns and exchanges move stock as they happen.
Offers and loyalty
Bill-level discounts from Professional; buy-one-get-one, quantity deals, special pricing and loyalty points from Premium. Setting these up as rules stops cashiers applying discounts by hand.
Payments and day-end
Cash, card and UPI payments recorded per bill, with session and cash tracking from Professional so each cashier's drawer is reconciled at the end of the shift.
Zoho Books and online sales
Items, sales, customers, vendors and payments sync to Zoho Books, and a Shopify store can share the same items. A central godown can sit in Zoho Inventory.
Which Zoho POS retail plan fits
Retail plans are priced per location per month. Count registers per shop first: Standard covers one counter, Professional three and Premium five. Restaurants have a different price list on our Zoho POS for restaurants page.
| Plan | Per location / month | Includes | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | ₹0 | 1 register, 1 user | 50 POS transactions, item variants, customers, sales and purchases, real-time reports, Shopify (1 store). |
| Standard | ₹649 | 1 register, 3 users | Unlimited transactions and offline billing, serial and batch tracking, barcode generation, price lists, multi-location, e-way bills. |
| Professional | ₹1,299 | 3 registers, 10 users | Adds offers, composite items, session and cash tracking, backorders and drop shipments, email alerts and field updates. |
| Premium | ₹2,099 | 5 registers, 15 users | Adds advanced promotions (buy X get Y, quantity deals), loyalty, picklists, custom modules, webhooks and custom functions. |
Zoho India list price per location per month, billed annually, as of October 2026, excluding GST. Monthly billing costs more (₹799 / ₹1,599 / ₹2,499). Extra registers, users and warehouses are sold as add-ons, which the Free plan does not support.
From the old billing software to the first day of sales
A shop cannot stop billing while software changes, so we prepare everything before the switch and go live at a quiet hour.
- 1
Store review
We look at the counters, hardware, item list, price rules, offers and how stock reaches each shop, and agree what the first day must handle.
- 2
Items and settings
Items, variants, barcodes, tax, price lists, outlets, registers, users and offers are configured, and printers and scanners tested on each counter.
- 3
Opening stock and accounts
Opening stock is loaded per outlet after a count, and the Zoho Books connection is set up with your accountant's ledger mapping.
- 4
Go-live and training
Cashiers are trained on the counter, supervisors on returns, offers and day-end, and we stay available through the first busy days.
Six things that slow a Zoho POS counter down
Items imported without barcodes or with duplicate codes, so cashiers search by name in a queue.
Variants created as separate items, so a shirt in five sizes shows as five unrelated products.
Discounts left to the cashier instead of set as offers, so margins depend on who is at the counter.
Hardware tested on the office laptop, not the counter machine, until the printer fails on day one.
No session and cash tracking, so a short drawer cannot be traced to a shift.
Zoho Books connected after weeks of sales, leaving a backlog of unsynced bills to reconcile.
Zoho POS, Zoho Inventory and Zoho Books together
Zoho POS keeps stock per outlet and is enough for most single-shop and small multi-shop retailers. When a business also runs a central godown, wholesale orders or an online store, Zoho Inventory holds that stock while POS sells from the shops.
Sales, payments and purchases sync from POS to Zoho Books, so the accountant works from the same figures as the counter. GST returns are then prepared in Books rather than rebuilt from billing reports.
Restaurants, cafés and bakeries need kitchen order tickets, tables and aggregator orders, which come with Zoho POS for restaurants rather than the retail edition.
How retailers typically use Zoho POS
Example scenarios, not client case studies: the setups we are most often asked for.
Textile and footwear showroom
Size and colour variants with barcodes, exchanges within a set window, festival offers set as rules, and stock checked across two branches before telling a customer an item is out.
Supermarket
Several counters on the Professional or Premium plan, batch and expiry tracking for packaged goods, and day-end cash reconciliation per cashier.
Mobile and electronics store
Serial numbers captured at billing for warranty claims, price lists for dealers and walk-in customers, and purchases from distributors entered once and synced to accounts.
Zoho POS — common questions
How much does Zoho POS cost in India?
Zoho POS retail has a Free plan limited to 50 transactions. Paid plans are priced per location: Standard ₹649 a month, Professional ₹1,299 and Premium ₹2,099, billed annually and excluding GST (October 2026). Restaurants are priced separately. Our implementation fee is separate and one-off.
Does Zoho POS work without internet?
Yes. The billing apps keep billing offline and sync sales once the connection returns. Offline billing with unlimited transactions starts at the Standard plan.
Does Zoho POS work with barcode scanners and receipt printers?
Yes. Zoho POS supports barcode scanners, receipt printers and cash drawers on its Windows, macOS, Android and iOS apps, and generates barcodes for items that arrive without one. We test the hardware on each counter before go-live.
Does Zoho POS sync with Zoho Books?
Yes. The Zoho Books integration syncs items, sales, customers, vendors, purchase orders and payments, so the accountant works from the same figures as the counter.
Do we need Zoho Inventory as well as Zoho POS?
Not for most shops. Zoho POS tracks stock per outlet. Add Zoho Inventory when you also run a central godown, wholesale orders or online sales that need one stock view behind the shops.
How long does a Zoho POS rollout take?
A single shop with a clean item list can be live in one to two weeks. Several outlets, thousands of items with variants, offers and an accounting connection take three to five weeks, mostly spent on the item master and opening stock.
